Yearly Roundup: A Year of Growth, Impact, and Transformation

As the year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on an incredible year filled with achievements, connections, and milestones in further education and skills. This year has been transformative not just for us but also for the learners, colleges, and organisations we’ve had the privilege to support.

Key Highlights from 2024

Expanding Teacher Training Opportunities
This year marked the start of the first cohort for the Diploma in Teaching (FE & Skills) course. It’s been a joy to welcome 32 dedicated learners and guide them through their teaching journey. The induction phase set a solid foundation, emphasising the vital role of teaching in the Further Education sector.

Milestone - Book Release
Achieving your Diploma in Teaching (FE & Skills) (co-authored with Ann Gravells and Gavin Lumsden), continues to gain traction. Witnessing learners quote the book in their assignment was a career-defining moment for Gavin! Positive reviews and feedback reaffirm its value, and it’s been rewarding to see it serve as a resource for trainee teachers and training providers alike.

Promoting Inclusion and Awareness
Through campaigns like GO RED for October, in collaboration with Essential Teaching UK and Teacher Coach, we’ve raised vital awareness about dyslexia in the workplace. By championing terms like Learner Dynamics instead of Learner Needs, we’re fostering inclusion and changing narratives to empower everyone.

Contributing to the FE Sector
Participation in events like the FE Skills Collective highlighted crucial themes such as recruitment, dual professionalism, and culture. Bridging the gap between policy and pedagogy remains a personal mission, and we’ve been inspired by the shared vision of a stronger skills system.

Support for Teacher Development
Live Virtual Classrooms have allowed us to deliver globally accessible courses, maintaining the richness of in-person interaction. From the Level 3 Award in Education and Training to Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring qualifications, it’s been fulfilling to offer opportunities that prepare educators to thrive in diverse settings.

Transformative Writing
We continue to write articles for FE News recently on Reframing ‘impossible’ to sharing our thoughts on putting theory into practice within the FE & Skills sector - more to come.

Looking Ahead

As we prepare to welcome the new year, we remain committed to supporting educators, influencing policy, and fostering inclusive practices. There’s much to look forward to, including upcoming courses and continued collaboration with colleges and learners worldwide.

Thank You

None of this would be possible without the amazing network of professionals, organisations, and learners who continue to inspire us. Thank you for your trust, enthusiasm, and shared commitment to transforming lives through education.

Here’s to another year of learning, growing, and making a difference together!

Wishing you all a joyful and prosperous 2025!
