What is the Level 3 Award in Assessing Related Vocational Achievement?
The Award in Assessing Vocational Related Achievement is intended for those who are required to assess vocational knowledge, skills and behaviours in a workshop, classroom or other training environment rather than assessing competence in a work environment.
Our 3-day AAVRA programme is accredited by TQUK, following their Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Related Achievement - Qualification Specification.
The qualification is suitable for:
- individuals who are not currently assessing but who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements of the qualification
- individuals who are currently assessing (including those who have just begun teaching and training) who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements of the qualification
- individuals currently working as teachers or trainers who wish to achieve an assessing qualification.



Modules / Programme of Study:
The AAVRA programme comprises of two mandatory core modules (9 Credits).
- Module One: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (this module is also part of the Award in Education and Training)
- Module Two: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
Assessing Practice
The qualification requires a minimum of 2-4 hours on placement.
There will be 4 formal assessing practice observations. Each observation must be a minimum of 30 minutes and conducted by your tutor and/or subject specialist/pastoral support mentor.
Total qualification time
The qualification is 9 credits which equals a total qualification time of 90 hours.
Guided learning hours
There will be a minimum of 54 guided learning hours. Learners are expected to study and complete aspects of their online portfolio in their own time. This additional time is expected to be approximately 36 hours.
Assessment
An online portfolio of evidence, including long answer questions, assessing practice observations, and evidence of teaching knowledge, skills and behaviours.
Entry Requirements
Learners must meet the following minimum criteria:
- 18 years of age and above
- Able to demonstrate an ability to study at level 3
- Do not have a criminal background which prevents them from working as a assessor/trainer with young people or vulnerable adults. There may be a requirement by the employer for learners to be checked by the disclosure and barring service. The learner is responsible for seeking advice from their employer regarding this.
