What is the Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring?
The Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring is intended for those who require a more extensive qualification, this qualification gives a broader knowledge of coaching and mentoring skills, focusing on coaching and mentoring relationships, operational processes and evaluation techniques. This will support learners in the development of both their theoretical and practical knowledge in coaching and mentoring, and reflective practice required to be an effective supervisor of coaches or mentors. It is suitable for teachers who wish to broaden their knowledge of coaching and mentoring.
Our five-day CCM programme is accredited by TQUK, following their Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring - Qualification Specification. This Qualification was developed in conjunction with Essential Teaching UK.
The qualification is suitable for:
- individuals who are not currently coaching or mentoring but who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements of the qualification
- individuals who are currently coaching or mentoring who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements of the qualification
- individuals currently working as a learner mentor, classroom coach or teacher coach who wish to achieve a coaching and mentoring qualification
Modules / Programme of Study:
The CCM programme comprises of three mandatory core modules covered by five learning aims (13 Credits).
- Section One: Introduction to Coaching and Mentoring
- Section Two: Understand the principles of coaching and mentoring
- Section Three: Understand the skills required of a coach or mentor
- Section Four: Understand how to identify client goals & outcomes
- Section Five: Understand the impact of coaching and mentoring on individual, team and organisational performance.
Coaching and Mentoring Practice
The qualification requires a minimum of 12 hours of coaching and mentoring practice.
There will be 1 formal mentoring practice via an asynchronous observation. The observation must be a minimum of 60 minutes.
Total qualification time
The qualification is 13 credits which equals a total qualification time of 130 hours.
Guided learning hours
There will be a minimum of 60 guided learning hours. Learners are expected to study and complete aspects of their online portfolio in their own time. This additional time is expected to be approximately 70 hours.
Assessment
An online portfolio of evidence, including assignments, coaching and mentoring practice observation, and evidence of coaching and mentoring knowledge, skills and behaviours.
Entry Requirements
Learners must meet the following minimum criteria:
- 18 years of age and above
- There are no specific entry requirements and learners do not need to have coaching and mentoring practice hours to commence the qualification.
- Do not have a criminal background which prevents them from working as a learner mentor with young people or vulnerable adults. There may be a requirement by the employer for learners to be checked by the disclosure and barring service. The learner is responsible for seeking advice from their employer regarding this.

This programme is designed for individuals who may be already working in a supervisory role or leadership role or may use the qualification as part of progression to a role such as head of department, quality-lead or teacher coach.
It is designed for both schools and colleges and covers extensive coaching and mentoring knowledge, skills and behaviours that are required to become an effective classroom coach, teacher coach and, coaching and mentoring lead.

Learners will achieve the nationally recognised RQF approved:
